INTRACAPSULAR TECHNIQUE
UNDER AND OVER : OVER THE TOP PATELLA TENDON GRAFT { FASCIAL STRIP} This technique involves harvesting the lateral one-third of the patella tendon and the fascia lata. The strip is placed under the intermeniscal ligament and passed thru the interior of the joint. It is then pulled ‘over-the -top’ of the lateral fabella and back to the proximal tibia at the strips origin. The strip is tightened and sutured in place. This technique incorporates both an intracapsular and extracapsular autograft of tissue.
EXTRACAPSULAR TECHNIQUE LATERAL SUTURE { DEANGELIS } { MRIT }
This technique involves placing nonabsorptable suture { Nylon } around the lateral fabella thru a hole in the tibia and either tied to itself at the fabella or “crimped” within a metal tube. The size of suture chosen is determined by the animals weight.
